Hollywood Undead have a whole arsenal of influences. That’s precisely why their sound is so enigmatic and edgy.

On Desperate Measures, Hollywood Undead further carve out a style that’s all their own. Industrial gnashing gives way to massive rock n’ roll choruses and some of the most raucous raps to ever be committed to tape. “Explosive” doesn’t even begin to describe just how fiery Hollywood Undead’s latest musical time bomb is…

In order to get closer to their music, Hollywood Undead’s J-Dog and Funny Man shared their playlists with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino in this exclusive interview.

Check out their playlists below and pick up Desperate Measures now!

J- Dog’s Playlist:

1.	The Sleeping

J-Dog: I’m listening to this band called The Sleeping that we toured with. They sound like a mix between At the Drive-in and Murder City Devils. They’re really good. Funny Man’s been into Bring Me The Horizon. We played some shows with them in England, so he’s been listening to them nonstop. I was into them, now he started listening to them. The Sleeping’s one of the only new bands I’ve been listening to recently though.

2.	AC/DC

J-Dog: I put my shit on shuffle and let it go. I’ve been listening to a lot of AC/DC lately for some reason. You know how you go through phases with bands? I always do that. It’s usually one band at a time with me. Right now it’s AC/DC because I watched their Behind the Music again. It’s such a good one. All the shit they’ve been through is crazy.

3.	Perish

J-Dog: I’m listening to a band called Perish. They’re a metal band but they’ve got melodic choruses. I’ve always liked metal that has melodic choruses that get ingrained in your brain. They’re from Orange County—the dirty OC [Laughs].

Funny Man’s Playlist:

1.	Queens of the Stone Age — Songs for The Deaf

Funny Man: That’s my all-time favorite album by them. The first song is awesome!

2. The Talking Heads — Best Of

Funny Man: I’m always listening to them! I like his style and the storytelling. It’s great shit!

3.	Dub-C

Funny Man: I’m always listening to the Dub-C album. I picked that up in Vegas when we were last there, and I don’t think I’ve stopped listening to it. I heard that album when I was a kid, and I still love it!

Backstreet Boys are back, and they’re ready for pop supremacy once more. Most likely, girls worldwide are already rejoicing at just the thought of their new album This Is Us dropping on October 6th, 2009. However, they’ve also got a massive jaunt planned as well.

Right now, everyone’s favorite pop group is rehearsing pretty hardcore in a Los Angeles rehearsal studio for what’s bound to be their most epic and bombastic tour yet. AJ McLean took some time to talk to ARTISTdirect.com about what’s on his iPod right now though. It’s very surprising.

Check out AJ’s playlist below and catch the Backstreet Boys soon…

They’re baaaackkkk…

AJ McLean’s Playlist:

1. Hollywood Undead — “Everywhere I Go”

I just heard a song last night that I’d never heard before, but I’m obsessed with it now. The song is Hollywood Undead’s “Everywhere I Go.” Dude, check it out! It’s amazing. On the chorus it talks about Charlie Sheen’s little weenie and how he loves to show it to everyone [Laughs]. Oh my God, this song is freaking brilliant! That is my new favorite thing right now.

2.	Stevie Wonder

3.	Creedence Clearwater Revival

4.	Lynyrd Skynyrd

I’m listening to a lot of older stuff like Stevie, Creedence Clear Water Revival, a little bit of Skynyrd here and there.

5. Flo Rida

6. Backstreet Boys — This Is Us

I’m listening to our new album, just to get familiar with it. I don’t always listen to our albums but I’m trying to get to know it for the tour’s sake.

7. Massive Attack

I am a huge fan of Massive Attack too. I’m all over the map!

Saliva drummer Paul Crosby was on a brief break from the road, but that didn’t stop him from providing ARTISTdirect.com with his Top 5 playlist. Saliva issued their fifth album for Island, Cinco Diablo, at the tail end of last year. 2009 sees the band remaining on tour. After the break, they will appear this spring on the resurrected <a target="_blank" href=http://www.artistdirect.com/snocore">Sno Core® tour as a featured attraction. Here’s what Crosby is rocking and not surprisingly, it’s mostly rock and metal.

Paul is totally proud of what’s rocking his world when he’s not rocking yours!

Paul Crosby’s Playlist:

1. Hollywood Undead

2. Halestorm

“They have a new album coming out on Atlantic. We just got off tour with them and Shinedown, so I’ve been listening to them.”

3. Overseene

“This is band you may not have heard of. They’re called Overseene, and they’re from Dallas. They are one of my favorite bands right now, for real.”

4. Killswitch Engage

“I listen to a lot of Killswitch Engage. They are my favorite metal band. I listen to them before I go on stage to get pumped up.”

5. Bullet For My Valentine

“My girl turned me on to Bullet For My Valentine. I’ve only gotten into them recently, but I always meant to because I had heard great things about them. All of these bands are on my iTunes playlist, so this is all legit.”
