Posted by Playlisted on Oct 8, 2009 in movie celebrities, music artists

In honor of Halloween and how incredibly terrifying Paranormal Activity is, ARTISTdirect.com editor/Dolor author Rick Florino assembled the most chilling soundtrack for the film imaginable…check it out

A Taste:

Slipknot, Pantera, Slayer, Deftones

Paranormal Activity is the scariest film of the past decade and one of the year’s best movies.

Like a demon, it takes up residency inside your conscience and rips and tears at every last shard of sanity—until you’re thoroughly, completely and utterly terrified beyond belief. Since it’s the best movie about possession to ever come out, ARTISTdirect.com editor Rick Florino compiled the perfect playlist for the film.

This is the ideal soundtrack for Paranormal Activity, featuring the best anthems of the devil, drugs and bad dreams ever recorded. The only thing scarier would be the licensing cost for all of these KILLER songs…

Check out Rick Florino’s Paranormal Activity playlist below and demand the film NOW! After one-million demands it will infect theaters everywhere, and you too won’t be able to sleep.

Also, speaking of scary, check out Rick Florino’s first illustrated horror novel Dolor: Lila now!

Filter

FilterFilter frontman Richard Patrick opens up his iTunes and gives us an exclusive look at what he’s spinning…

A Taste:

Deftones, Ministry, Patsy Cline, U2

Filter have always been able to pack just the right dose of anger and melody into the same song.

Who could forget “Hey Man, Nice Shot” or “Welcome to the Fold,” they were about as pissed off and passionate as rock music gets. However, Filter mainman Richard Patrick is as fired up as he’s ever been on the band’s most recent offering, Anthems for the Damned, a scathing and soulful slab of rock.

Richard Patrick decided to share his playlist with us in this exclusive feature. Check out what he’s spinning below!

Richard Patrick’s Playlist:

1. Deftones“Feiticeira”

I find Chino’s sense of melody astounding.

2. U2 — “The Unforgettable Fire”

U2 has always been a huge inspiration to me, and this is one of their grand achievements.

3. Jane’s Addiction“Three Days”

Devildriver (Jeff Kendrick)

Posted by Playlisted on Apr 19, 2009 in music artists

DevildriverDevildriver’s axeman offers up his playlist to us and talks a little bit about his band’s next album…

A Taste:

Muse, Alice In Chains, Deftones, Pantera

Devildriver conjure a catchy cacophony of guttural grooves, double bass dementia and searing solos. It’s a heavy metal formula that’s impenetrable and strangely infectious. Right now, the band is finishing their hotly anticipated fourth epic, Pray for Villains, due out summer 2009 on Roadrunner Records.

However, while at Fangoria Weekend of Horrors, guitarist Jeff Kendrick talked to us about what he’s currently spinning for our playlist feature. He delved into some other inspirations too!

Heat is one of my favorite movies ever, and I’ll always go back to that. However, my musical taste is all over the place, and that shows in my playing,” said Jeff. “We’re a band that a lot of people who don’t necessarily love metal can listen to. We’re catchy and we write songs that display technical proficiency at the same time. Our fans know we’re not going to let them down. We’ve stuck around.”

There’s no doubt they’ll be around for a long time to come too. Check out Jeff’s playlist below and get ready for Villains this summer.

Underoath

UnderoathUnderoath singer Spencer Chamberlain offers up his playlist to us in this exclusive feature…

A Taste:

Deftones, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails

Underoath are one of hard rock’s simultaneously most ambient and brutal acts. So it’s no surprise that Underoath vocalist Spencer Chamberlain’s playlist has a healthy dose of Radiohead tempered by some good old fashioned sonic anger. Underoath’s latest album, Lost In the Sound of Separation, bridges the gap between Phil Anselmo and Thom Yorke in the most beautiful way possible. Plus, the band’s gearing up for a headlining slot on the 2009 installment of the Warped Tour this summer.

In between everything, Spencer found the time to share his playlist with us. He opened up his iTunes and let us see what he’s spinning.

Check out Spencer’s playlist below!
