The first is that of the introspective and thoughtful artisan, crafting songs alone and truly conveying feelings. Then there’s the charismatic, outspoken performer—delivering said songs every night on stage for the world to hear.

Colbie Caillat’s iPod reflects that sentiment.

She laughs, “I have an upbeat playlist, and then I have a chill-out playlist. However, some songs are on both mixes because the have the same vibe!”

Bob Marley, Adele and Amy Winehouse are on the chill mix, while the upbeat mix has Kings of Leon, Notorious B.I.G. and Jason Mraz. Right before I recorded this new Christmas song, I was in Paris on my balcony practicing it. It was at night and I was looking at the Eiffel Tower playing the song. It felt like I was in Paris at Christmas time. It was really amazing. Being back in Cali, it’s sunny outside, and I’m in the studio singing a Christmas song. It’s funny [Laughs].
