Posted by Playlisted on Jan 18, 2010 in music artists

Slayer’s Kerry King opens up his iTunes for ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino in this exclusive playlist feature…

A Taste:

Marilyn Manson, Slayer

Sitting in traffic, working out and touring with Marilyn Manson all seem to have the same effect.

They make you want to crank Antichrist Superstar, Manson’s classic sophomore full-length. That’s held very true for Mr. Kerry King. The Slayer guitarist has toured with Manson twice in the U.S. now, and right after he got off the road from Mayhem 2009, Antichrist was lighting up King’s iPod.

Slayer’s Kerry King sat down with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino to discuss what’s on his iPod in this exclusive interview.

Check out Kerry’s playlist below and be sure to grab Slayer’s latest, World Painted Blood!

Kerry King’s Playlist:

1. Slayer — World Painted Blood

2. Marilyn Manson — Antichrist Superstar

I’ve just been listening to our record actually. Before that, I went through another Manson phase because we just got done touring with him last summer. He’s like a fucking virus, every time you hang out with him you just play his shit all the time [Laughs]. I go back to Superstar. I haven’t been really listening to music, once our touring got postponed, I went into being-at-home mode. My wife’s more of a person that needs to have music when she drives, whereas I’m just zoning out.

He wrote and directed this drama about five New Yorkers whose lives crisscross in crisis during a 36-hour period. Plus, he also is currently lighting up the screen in Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones.

Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia shares his playlist with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino in this exclusive feature…

A Taste:

Sade, Willie Hutch, Linkin Park

Three 6 Mafia are always ready to attack.

However, lately they’ve been gearing up for the latest assault on hip hop—Laws of Power, set to hit stores this March. In the midst of that though, they cranked out a sick guest appearance on “Demons” with Tech N9ne that’s definitely some of the darkest fire they’ve dropped. Three 6 Mafia’s forthcoming album promises to be just as fiery as Last 2 Walk but with even more genre-mashing—stirring in a little more rock n’ roll and electro this time around. It’s no surprise that Juicy J’s musical taste runs a wide gamut.

His iPod is all over the map, and he sat down with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino to discuss what’s rockin’ his world right now in this exclusive feature.

Check out Juicy J’s playlist below and be on the look out for Three 6 Mafia’s next rap epic….

Juicy J’s Playlist:

1. Sade

I’m listening to Sade. She’s hot. I saw her perform live and she ripped the show up. She did a great performance. She’s been around for years, and she still gigs! I actually grew up on her music.

2. Willie Hutch

I listen to all kinds of music. I dig Willie Hutch!

3. Linkin Park

I’m into rock n’ roll too. I listen to Linkin Park.

A Taste:

The Beatles, Bob Marley, Leadbelly, Howlin’ Wolf

So what makes someone country?

Just ask acclaimed artist Ryan Bingham—”It’s not the hat and the boots. It’s about your story and where you come from.”

Crazy Heart is quite the story. Jeff Bridges gives the performance of a lifetime as hard drinkin’ down-n-out country singer Bad Blake. Bingham pops up in his backing band adding some real country cred to the flick. The real life country artist definitely had quite the experience with Crazy Heart.

Ryan Bingham sat down in this exclusive interview with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino about what’s on his playlist. Check out Ryan’s playlist below and don’t miss Crazy Heart.

Ryan Bingham’s Playlist:
