Mike White and Jared Hess of Gentlemen Broncos

Posted by Playlisted on Oct 30, 2009 in movie celebrities

Gentlemen Broncos‘, Mike White and Jared and Jerusha Hess sit down with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino for this exclusive interview about what music they’re listening to…

A Taste:

Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, Journey

“I’m never going to stop rocking,” laughs Mike White.

The Gentlemen Broncos star has no reason to ever stop, especially now that he’s played the film’s wild-maned Dusty. With long flowing locks and a skill with oversized spitball straws, Dusty is quite “rock n’ roll.” He’s the kind of guy you’d see outside of an Iron Maiden show double-fisting two Pabst Blue Ribbons and throwing up the horns, yet Mike imbues a strange calm into the character. It’s that zen which allows for the biggest laughs.

However, Mike wasn’t the only rocker on set. Filmmaker Jared Hess [Napoleon Dynamite] also has a soft spot for some good ole fashion distortion. Mike and Jared sat down with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino for this exclusive interview about what’s on their playlists. It gets you closer to Gentlemen Broncos, and it gets loud!

Queens of the Stone Age, The Beatles, Steely Dan

Kristinia DeBarge has spent the past year turning pop music upside down with her undeniable R&B sensibility and a whole lot of soul. From “Goodbye” to “Sabotage,” Kristinia’s got the kind of arsenal of hits that could unseat Lady GaGa and Britney Spears at the top of the heap. Aaron Lewis of Staind

Posted by Playlisted on Oct 27, 2009 in music artists

Staind frontman Aaron Lewis sits down with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino for this exclusive interview about the first three records he ever owned and their impact on him…

A Taste:

AC/DC, KISS, Pink Floyd

Staind have the pop power and the heavy metal heart to solidify them as a legendary band. It’ll only be a little while…

They’ve got a whole host of modern classics in their catalog—from the massive melodies in “Right Here” and “It’s Been Awhile” to the cathartic chaos of “Mudshovel” and “Suffocate.” The multi-platinum Massachusetts quartet knows how to write hard rock anthems better than anyone, but when it’s time to get heartfelt few are better than frontman Aaron Lewis. Ever since the moment he busted out an acoustic guitar on the 1999 installment of the Family Values tour for “Outside,” Aaron’s songwriting prowess and undeniably incredible voice have captivated listeners. Given his penchant for a potent tune, we were curious about where it all began.

In this exclusive interview. ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino spoke to Aaron Lewis about the first three albums to ever inspire him. Aaron went way back in the catalog and gave us three classics for this exclusive playlist feature. Check it out below and pick up Staind’s most recent masterpiece, The Illusion of Progress if you haven’t yet.

Wolfmother

Posted by Playlisted on Oct 27, 2009 in music artists

Wolfmother mainman Andrew Stockdale talks to ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino about what’s on his iPod in this exclusive interview…

A Taste:

Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac, The Doobie Brothers

Wolfmother are ready to bark at the moon again.

On their brand new album, Cosmic Egg, vocalist/guitarist Andrew Stockdale and co. tear through rock n’ roll with some seriously sharpened teeth. Riffs rip through airtight grooves, while Stockdale’s inimitable wail carries hooks to the heavens and back. Stockdale’s got a howl that few can match, and it’s only gotten fiercer on the new material! Cosmic Egg most definitely sizzles!

Stockdale’s personal taste covers quite the spectrum though. He sat down with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino for this exclusive interview about his playlist. Be sure to check out Andrew Stockdale’s playlist below and don’t miss Wolfmother’s Cosmic Egg in stores everywhere now!

Andrew Stockdale’s Playlist:

Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor & Tanedra Howard of Saw VI

Posted by Playlisted on Oct 26, 2009 in movie celebrities

In this exclusive interview, Saw VI stars Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor and Tanedra Howard share what they’re listening to with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino…

A Taste:

Coldplay, KISS, Citizen Cope, Van Morrison

Saw VI plays out like a symphony of destruction.

It’s the most twisted entry into the franchise yet and, as with all of the previous installments, there’s a malevolently musical undercurrent to the film’s madness.
B However, the stars themselves have quite different iPod selections. Though Satanic death metal and dark industrial would fit the film’s vibe best, you’re more likely to find Tobin Bell [Jigsaw] cranking some Coldplay than Slipknot.

I’ve always thought Chris Martin was way more evil than Corey Taylor anyway, so it’s all good…
