Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs director Phil Lord shares his playlist with ARTISTdirect.com editor Rick Florino in this exclusive feature…

A Taste:

Brian Eno, E.L.O., Human League

“I don’t have anything cool or hip that I listen to,” laughs Phil Lord, co-director of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Along with filmmaking partner Chris Miller, Phil gave Cloudy a whimsical and warm ’80s feel. Part of that definitely comes from their musical sensibility—which definitely gives New Wave its due.

Phil shared his playlist with ARTISTdirect.com in this exclusive feature. Check it out below and be sure to see Cloudy, in theaters now!

Phil Lord’s Playlist:

1. E.L.O.

2. Human League

3. Brian Eno

4. Escape from New YorkSoundtrack

Because of this movie, I got really into ’80s electro pop. I’ve been listening to tons of E.L.O., Human League and John Carpenter soundtracks, like Escape from New York. I’ve got a lot of Brian Eno on my playlist. I think it comes from working with [composer] Mark Mothersbaugh on the film and having such an affinity for his stuff.
