Marié Digby gives ARTISTdirect.com a look at what tunes are rocking her world right now in this exclusive playlist feature

A Taste:

Lupe Fiasco, Jay-Z, Phoenix

Marié Digby’s got folky croon that could serve as the perfect soundtrack for a dream.

Her sophomore album, Breathing Underwater, is ethereal and smoky in all the right ways. She’s got a lot of heart, but at the same time, she knows how to carry a big pop hook.

Marié opened up her iTunes and gave ARTISTdirect.com an exclusive look at what she’s spinning. Check out her playlist below!

Marié Digby’s Playlist:

1. Lupe Fiasco — “Shining Down”

Right now I’m really into Lupe Fiasco. He’s got this new song called “Shining Down.” He’s such a smart lyricist and he’s very fresh. I really appreciate everything he does.

2. Jay-Z — “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)”

I’ve been listening to “Death of Auto-Tune” by Jay-Z. He and Lupe have been in constant rotation. I love Jay-Z too. I admire rap artists who are unique and fresh and they don’t rap about the things that everyone else raps about. I like those two rappers a lot!

Jonathan Davis of Korn

Posted by Playlisted on Sep 20, 2009 in music artists

Jonathan Davis opens up his iTunes and gives ARTISTdirect.com editor Rick Florino an exclusive look at what he’s rocking while making Korn’s new album

A Taste:

Black Light Burns, Cannibal Corpse, Lil Wayne

“Right now the main focus is on the record,” says Korn frontman Jonathan Davis with a big smile.

Korn’s in the middle of crafting what’s bound to be their most brutal record yet. So in between all of that thrashing in the studio, Davis has been spinning his fare share of, get this, club hip hop and death metal. Brutality abounds in both, and it’s getting Davis in the perfect mindset to get ready to lay down vocals.

Jonathan shared his playlist with ARTISTdirect.com in this exclusive feature. Check it out below and keep your eyes on Korn. They’ll be releasing another landmark album within the next year.

Jonathan Davis’s Playlist:

1. Black Light Burns

I like Wes Borland’s project, Black Light Burns. That’s pretty much all I’m listening to other than hip hop. I’ve been DJing a lot, and I’m listening to all the top rap songs. Because I’m in the middle of writing a record, I don’t usually listen to music. That’s how I live all day, so when I get home, silence is kind of nice [Laughs].

Kid Cudi

Posted by Playlisted on Sep 20, 2009 in music artists

Kid Cudi opens up his iTunes and gives ARTISTdirect.com editor Rick Florino an exclusive look at his playlist…

A Taste:

MGMT, RATATAT, Lykke Li, Animal Collective

Kid Cudi just wants to rock.

Cleveland’s “lonely stoner” loves a good rock song—indie or otherwise. His playlist is practically a who’s who of popular and up-and-coming bands. It’s way more Pitchfork than Vibe, but it’s just another Kid Cudi curveball. He’s one of the best new rappers on the scene, and he’s constantly rocking out. It’s all part of this space man’s legend though.

Kid Cudi shared his playlist with ARTISTdirect.com editor Rick Florino in this exclusive feature. Check it out below!

Kid Cudi’s Playlist:

1. Kid CudiMan On the Moon: The End of Day

Damn, I really can’t stop listening to my own album to be honest [Laughs]. I really made this album for me first, and I hope that other people like it.

2. MGMT

I’m always into MGMT.

3. Lykke Li

I’m always listening to Lykke Li.
