Cobra Starship axeman Ryland Blackinton opens up his iTunes and shares his playlist with ARTISTdirect.com in this exclusive feature…
A Taste:
Beach Boys, Justice, The Animals, Ratatat
Cobra Starship’s dance-y pop rock never fails to “Make them good girls go bad!”
On their latest album Hot Mess, the merchants of pop dance ecstasy light up one infectious anthem after another. They’ve got the groove to make any dance floor go off, and they’ve got enough melody to make you hum all day. It’s quite the combination, and the perfect mess of melody and mischief.
Guitarist Ryland Blackinton has a very diverse taste in tunes. He opened up his iTunes and gave ARTISTdirect.com an exclusive look at what he’s spinning. Check out Ryland’s playlist below and pick up Hot Mess now!
Ryland Blackinton’s Playlist:
1. The Creation — “Painter Man”
2. The Animals — “Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”Classic Animals. This is also one of my favorite videos from the 60’s. Eric Burdon walks around so nonchalantly while he lip syncs.
3. Ratatat — “Mumtaz Khan”

Drowning Pool guitarist C.J. Pierce lets ARTISTdirect.com take a look at his playlist…
A Taste:
Pantera, Tool, Slipknot, Down
Drowning Pool axeman C.J. Pierce knows metal better than most.
He’s been slinging riffs for Drowning Pool for a long time, and his playing has only gotten more and more fiery with each and every album. Coming off a successful run on this summer’s Crüe Fest 2, C.J. remains pretty stoked right now. Not to mention that Drowning Pool will soon be heading back in the studio to record their next album.
C.J. gave us a bit of a hard rock education in this exclusive feature. Check out his playlist below and pick up Drowning Pool’s Full Circle if you haven’t already!
C.J. Pierce’s Playlist:
1. Pantera
I always go back to my all-time favorite bands every single day just to get pumped up for the shows. Pantera is always on. I don’t know if it comes from growing up in New Orleans and living in Dallas now or just the fact that they’re the most metal band ever. Even when Phil screams, you can understand all of the words and it comes across as powerful. Phil has a lot of soul and flavor when you break it down musically.

A Taste:
Flo Rida, Hollywood Undead, Stevie Wonder, Massive Attack
Backstreet Boys are back, and they’re ready for pop supremacy once more. Most likely, girls worldwide are already rejoicing at just the thought of their new album This Is Us dropping on October 6th, 2009. However, they’ve also got a massive jaunt planned as well.
Right now, everyone’s favorite pop group is rehearsing pretty hardcore in a Los Angeles rehearsal studio for what’s bound to be their most epic and bombastic tour yet. AJ McLean took some time to talk to ARTISTdirect.com about what’s on his iPod right now though. It’s very surprising.
Check out AJ’s playlist below and catch the Backstreet Boys soon…
They’re baaaackkkk…
AJ McLean’s Playlist:
1. Hollywood Undead — “Everywhere I Go”
I just heard a song last night that I’d never heard before, but I’m obsessed with it now. The song is Hollywood Undead’s “Everywhere I Go.” Dude, check it out! It’s amazing. On the chorus it talks about Charlie Sheen’s little weenie and how he loves to show it to everyone [Laughs]. Oh my God, this song is freaking brilliant! That is my new favorite thing right now.

Jacoby Shaddix opens up his iTunes and gives ARTISTdirect.com a lesson in punk rock in this exclusive feature
A Taste:
Gallows, Thrice, The Beatsteaks, Metallica
Papa Roach are out on the road slaying stages across the U.S. per usual.
Their most recent offering, Metamorphosis, is one of the year’s most raucous rock n’ roll records. The band stripped down their sound to the raw necessities—cranked up distortion and passionate, powerful vocals. Singer Jacoby Shaddix spends a lot of time listening to music in order to get psyched up. He shared his playlist with ARTISTdirect.com in this exclusive feature.
Check out Jacoby’s playlist below and catch the band on the road now!
Jacoby Shaddix’s Playlist:
1. Thrice — Beggars
I just bought it on iTunes, and it’s a fucking stellar record. It’s really cool to see how that band has evolved.
2. Gallows — Grey Britain
I’m really digging Gallows’ new album, Grey Britain. Gallows totally caught me by surprise. This record is a good blend of metal, punk rock and “Fuck you!” They’re definitely a UK revolutionary punk rock band.
