Tech N9ne

Tech N9neTech N9ne offers us his playlist in this exclusive feature…

A Taste:

Slipknot, System of a Down, Gnarls Barkley

“I listen to myself more than I listen to anything else,” laughs Tech N9ne. As he should! Tech made arguably one of the best hip hop albums of 2008 with his epic two-disc Killer. It’s a psychotic and hilarious head-trip of a record that opens up Tech’s twisted soul for all to see. Once you pop in Killer, it’s hard to turn it off because Tech is real.

He explains, “Quincy Jones told me, ‘Rap what you know, and people will forever feel you.’ What do I know better than anything? Myself [Laughs]. Ever since then, I’ve been writing about my life. The story keeps getting better.”

The story will continue on the Kansas City rap maverick’s next full-length Sickology 101: The Study of Being Sick, due out this spring. For now, in between dropping verses, Tech gave us an exclusive look at his iTunes playlist. Some of it was extremely surprising too—just like Tech is.

Check out what Tech N9ne is spinning below, and don’t forget to look for Sickology 101 this spring. Tech will definitely be listening to it!

Baby Bash

Baby BashBaby Bash offers up his playlist to us in this exclusive feature…

A Taste:

Mac Dre, Frankie J, Bob Marley

“That don’t hurt?” Baby Bash asks a scantily clad girl writhing upside down on a stripper poll at the video shoot for his infectious new single, “That’s How I Go.”

The girl is hanging upside down on the pole, and Bash can’t help but ask if the position is painful. However, despite the gaggle of exotic dancers on set, Bash’s new video isn’t taking place at a gentleman’s club. Instead, the locale is simply a fitness studio in Los Angeles that happens to have a few stripper poles. If you live in L.A., that’s not at all surprising. Regardless, the vibrant video follows Bash as he goes from a tattoo shop to the fitness studio, chased by the paparazzi and the aforementioned, surprisingly acrobatic dancers.

Bash is a vision of modern swagger. Donning a dapper white hat, blue plaid sweater vest and a light aqua polo shirt, he looks chill but dignified. There’s a bevy of people gathered around the shoot too, including Bash’s longtime friend and collaborator, Frankie J. Frankie glances at the same “flexible” young lady and jokes, “That’s some raw talent!”

Amidst all the laughs, lights, talent and strippers, Baby Bash took some time to give us an exclusive look at his playlist. He opened up his iTunes and allowed us to peek inside. The enigmatic, charismatic and friendly Bash even let us dig into his catering!

MetallicaMetallica’s Robert Trujillo offers us his playlist in this exclusive feature

A Taste:

Tool, Mnemic, Jimi Hendrix

Robert Trujillo’s son has very good taste in music. The Metallica bassist laughs, “My four-year-old boy loves Tool! When I take him to school, we’re playing Tool all the time, so I definitely connect with them. There’s a lot of bass in that group which is nice. They’re a great band for a bass player to listen to. So believe it or not, my son and I are going through a big Tool phase!”

It’s good to hear that Robert’s started his son off early on the good stuff. However, Robert’s personal tastes are very diverse. In this exclusive feature for ARTISTdirect.com’s Grammy page, the Metallica bass master opened up his iTunes and gave us a look at his playlist.

Check out Metallica’s Grammy nominated Death Magnetic, and see what Robert’s spinning below.
